13 Reasons Why Review

You may have seen all over social media everyone has talked about the new Netflix show “13 Reasons Why.” I took the time to watch it myself and the show was pretty good. I binge watched it in two days. It’s basically about a girl named Hannah who commits suicide, but before this happens she made cassette tapes for people who changed her life in a terrible way. It’s also a book if you’re interested in reading it.

I believe this show connected to many viewers. The rawness of it brought out problems that some people deal with on the regular. It’s not your typical happy-go-lucky high school tv show or movie. It showed the reality of high school whether you’re a loner or a popular kid. Some kids are pretty cruel which makes high school life even harder. I’m glad the creator touched on the subject which is suicide and more touchy subjects. Suicide is a common thing that happens too often. It happens after a person plots it for a while and wants to release pain from balled up feelings inside. Well, that’s my definition of it. Do anyone else agree with it? Hannah took the time to plot out her stories for the cassette tapes for each person that did her wrong. She made sure she spilled out every truth behind each story and left no details out about them. The stories to each person pulled at their conscious. I’m not going to lie it even had me thinking about my actions towards others. This show knows how to play mind games with you. You’ll have to figure out who’s good or bad…no scratch that who’s trustworthy or not. None of the “friends” Hannah thought she had actually realized how every little joke or mistake they made turned her life into hell. Listening to the tapes gave them full of regrets though. I’m glad she did do this because they deserved it. Hannah was a sweet girl who was special in her own way, but I hate people started nasty rumors about her. I love her character because she was very brave to deal with the drama as long as she did. This is the type of show you have to pay close attention to understand what’s going on. It reminds me of Pretty Little Liars a bit. Every scene gives you clues to predict what may happen next. Towards the end of this first season, it gets very intense. I cried (why am I so emotional lol) everything spun out of control. Yes, this is when you’ll finally hear Clay’s tape. You will be eager to listen to it. I’m not going to spoil anything for you all though. If you haven’t watched this show yet go check it out on Netflix. It’s worth watching trust me.

10 Drake Quotes To Remember

For those of you that don’t know who Drake is, he’s a Canadian rapper that came to the United States to pursue his rapping career. Some of you may have seen his face on the show Degrassi back when he was a teenager or heard some of his music. This man is very talented. I’m a big fan of him so I always stay on top of his music (I’ll be inserting some of his music in this post). His lyrics are relatable and create quotes that some people live by. I can’t lie Drake is a very attractive man lol. Let me get back on subject. On this post, I’ll  be giving you 10 quotes that you might relate to and probably will never forget!

Drake from his Degrassi Days as Jimmy (Google Images)

1.”Sometimes it’s the journey that teaches you a lot about your destination”

2. “A relationship can give you a gut wrenching feeling sometimes. It’s a real emotional ride”

3. “A relationship without trust is like a phone without service and what do you do with a phone that doesn’t have service? play games”

4.  “We live in a generation of not being in love, and not being together. But we sure make it feel like we’re together. Because we’re scared to see each other with somebody else”

5. “Pain makes you stronger. Fear makes you braver. Heartbreak makes you wiser.”

6. “I was born to make mistakes, not to fake perfection”

7. “No matter how dirty your past is, your future is still spotless”

8. “I’m tryin’ to do better than good enough”

9. “Kill them with success and bury them with a smile”

10. ” Sometimes the most beautiful people are beautifully broken”

If you read these quotes you can see that Drake is intelligent, deep thinker, and a motivator. This is exactly why I love him as a music artist. Anything I go through I can count on his music. I probably connect to him so much because he’s a Scorpio (Zodiac sign) like me lol. Which of these quotes is your favorite?

Things to do when you’re sad 😭

Watch funny videos on YouTube

If you watch YouTube videos on the regular you probably have some favorite YouTubers of yours that know how to make to laugh. Binge watch their videos. After a couple of videos, you should be laughing your butt off! Trust me it works.

Write out your feelings

Whether it’s on your social media page, on a piece of paper, or in a blog post writing out your feelings can relieve some emotion. This can be a good outlet.

Vent to someone

Talking to someone you trust and willing to listen to your problems is a blessing. It’s not easy to show your vulnerability to someone.  Saying what’s on your mind will help a whole lot. Especially if the person listens without judging you.

Listening to music

Putting on a playlist that you love can lighten up your mood. Even if it’s sad songs they are still pouring out your feelings. Music cures everything. Well at least in my opinion it does.

This post is just a quick read. Comment if you enjoyed this post!

Why Long Distance Relationships are Special

Most people can’t handle being in an LDR (long distance relationship). They always feel like they need their partner around 24/7. Don’t get me wrong people in an LDR want the same, but we’re not as clingy. We are strong enough to handle not being physically around our significant other, any temptation that might try to break up our relationship, and the negative opinions that are said about our relationships. Even though, we will love to have our boyfriend or girlfriend around us we are able to remain faithful to them. There is no such thing of not being able to handle a long distance relationship because if you really care or love someone genuinely you won’t even give them a suspicion of questioning your loyalty. I mean don’t get me wrong I know some couples go through situations and if the solution to their problems is breaking up that’s fine. Long distance relationships are built for people who don’t mind taking sacrifices and being patient. Lord knows it’s hard to have patience when you want to see the person you love in person every day. Long distance relationships are special because not too many people can boldly say that they had enough courage to stay in their relationship without distance affecting the way they love their significant other.  Question for my readers: What makes your long distance relationship special?

Growing up without a father

Now, this is not your typical sad or angry story towards a man who doesn’t want to be a father. It’s definitely not “I need a father in my life” story neither. I’ll be sharing how I feel about growing up without a father. Ever since I was born my father never tried to help take care of me. So you know my mother end up being a single mom. Growing up I didn’t have a bad childhood living in a single parent household. I can’t recall any moments where I dreamed to have a dad in my life. I do recall one memory that I’ll never forget.

Ever since I was born my father never tried to help take care of me. So you know my mother end up being a single mom. Growing up I didn’t have a bad childhood living in a single parent household. I can’t recall any moments where I dreamed to have a dad in my life. I do recall one memory that I’ll never forget. There was a time he promised me a birthday party for my 13th birthday. It never happened and that hurt me that day. I remember crying about it. I was shocked because I knew that it wasn’t going to happen but I still believed it. I guess I had a little hope inside of me being so young around that time. Like most fathers that don’t take care of their children, he gave false promises. That flashback was an example of it.

I’m not trying to encourage anyone to go bash their father that never was there for them. You can be successful in life no matter if you lived in a single parent household or with two parents. If you grew up without a father like me one day he’ll regret and suffer for not being there for you like he was supposed to. Don’t carry around that baggage the rest of your life. For some I know it’s hard to not be angry towards your father especially if he was part of your life at a certain time. For me, like I said at the beginning of this post my father wasn’t there for me so basically it’s like he’s a person that never exist in my life. I know who he is and he calls every blue moon.  We don’t have a good father-daughter relationship. My question for everyone is do you have a good relationship with your father?

Rejection Can Be A Blessing 😮🙌🏾

I know in your head now you’re thinking how can rejection be a blessing or maybe saying how is that even possible? Well, if you want to find out I’ll explain it to you. Mostly everyone experienced having a crush/liking, someone. We try to build up the courage to approach or text them. That’s when we start thinking of different scenarios like what if the person doesn’t like me back, what if I make myself look annoying/ridiculous, or how do I start-up a conversation with them. These are only a couple of things that run through your mind, but I know it’s plenty of more. From the title of this post, you can see I’m going to talk about the word we fear the most REJECTION.

In my opinion, I see it as a blessing because it saves you from an unnecessary heartbreak. I don’t know about you, but I think that’s a pretty good reason to accept rejection. I mean I understand that’s not the outcome we would want to experience. I’ll rather have someone honestly reject me than pretend to like me and hurt my feelings. After rejection, it might take you some time to get over it well that depends on how deep you liked the person. Try to keep yourself busy by doing activities you enjoy. I know it’s easier said than done, but you’ll appreciate this piece of advice.

Rejection may seem awful which isn’t always true. For all, you know your crush could have been someone who would lead your life in destruction. Your rejection was a blessing because the person that you liked probably wasn’t the right person for you. There will be someone who comes into your life that will like/love you unconditionally. Don’t try to force a relationship with someone who doesn’t want you.

Long Distance Relationships Aren’t Bad

Now maybe the title of this post caught your attention or you could be curious. There’s nothing wrong with trying to find out why I wrote about this topic. Anyways, most people always have a negative thought about long distance relationships. Every time someone finds out that I am in one they always saying “your boyfriend is cheating on you”, “I can’t handle being away from my boyfriend or girlfriend for too long”, “how do you trust each other.” Oh yeah, I can’t forget the famous “you’re getting catfished” response.

Most of the time I ignore these questions or statements because once I try to explain myself there is always someone trying to play the devil’s advocate. Honestly, they won’t understand what a long distance relationship feels like until they experience catching feelings for someone who’s far away. Situations like this aren’t planned. It’s not like one day I woke up saying I want to be in a long distance relationship, so let me go find someone across the world to go date.

My point is this kind of relationship isn’t bad if you and your partner truly love each other, have good communication through text messages, video chats, or phone calls and make sure you’re able to trust each other. I definitely know that’s one of the hardest things to do, but if something is going on behind your back you’ll get a strange alarming feeling that will warn you. Another point I want to make that’s referring to cheating is even someone who dates a person that lives in the same town as they do can get cheated on as well. It all depends on if your partner truly loves and care about you. If someone tries to talk down on your long distance relationship ignore them cause I’m sure they are probably with someone who they are unhappy with or that’s cheating on them or they just don’t want to see you happy. I don’t mind being in my long distance relationship because I know that my boyfriend and I appreciate our quality time more than a couple that gets to see each other every day.

Have you ever had a friendship that you thought would last forever but it didn’t? If you said yes then you’re not the only one. I know that sometimes we outgrow our old childhood friends because eventually yall mature into two different people who don’t share the same interest anymore. There are two outcomes in situations like this either the people in the friendship go on with their lives and are fine with it or they hold a grudge against one another because maybe something serious happened in a bad way. Every time I get close to someone they always disappear out of my life. I guess they are called “temporary friends.” This is mostly why I don’t like getting attach to people. I mean I enjoy the fun memories but I just wish that I didn’t have to go through a series of friendships. It’s better to have a solid friendship where I could tell my friend or best friends most things when I need advice or someone to have my back. One thing I will not tolerate is having a deceitful, fake, and sneaky friend or best friend, though. I will not force those type of friends in my life. That is less drama I have to deal with. I just thank God I don’t have to go through any unnecessary drama with friends that have sly motives against me. Anyways, I believe that if you have a close and sincere friendship with someone always cherish the great moments that both of you experience together. Sometimes it’s hard to find a true friend that cares about you.

Interracial Relationships

I decided to write about this topic because it plays a big role in society today. Believe it or not, some people are still against interracial relationships which are surprising to most but not all people. I’m actually in an interracial relationship myself. When I would go out with my boyfriend to certain places we get weird stares. I don’t know if it’s because they are shocked to see an African-American woman with a Hispanic man. Or maybe they dislike seeing us together.

There are times when it’s uncomfortable because unwanted attention is on us. In my opinion, I don’t care if someone dates another person outside of their race. You can’t help who you love plus all that matters is if the person treats you with respect and loves you unconditionally.  I think it’s beautiful to see couples happy without being judgmental about who they choose to be with.

It is more common to see interracial couples in big cities like New York, Miami, and Atlanta plus more but y’all get my point. Then you get into a state like mine which is South Carolina.  You don’t see too many interracial couples and if you do it’s a Caucasian woman with a black man or vice versa. Then you will see a Hispanic man with a Caucasian woman. I had Caucasian friends in the past that were told by their parents that they could have black friends. When it came to dating a black person then that will be a problem. That would be so crazy to me. I do not see a difference between dating a black person or being friends with them. I’m not trying to throw racism in here so I don’t need anyone to get offended.

In conclusion, I support interracial dating because it shows how others have courage dating someone outside their race to get a new experience or love they haven’t gotten from anyone else. By me saying this I’m not trying to say I’m against anyone that dates within their race. That is totally fine. I just don’t want anyone to get any misunderstanding. So I want to know what’s y’all opinion on interracial dating by commenting down below.
